Window Specifications
600 Series: All rigid vinyl windows specified in this document shall be manufactured by Merzon Industries using Chelsea building products rigid vinyl extrusions meeting ASTM D-4726-01, specification for physical requirements for PVC extrusion and in compliance with requirements for licensees of the AAMA PVC Extrusion Certification Program.
General: All rigid vinyl windows of the types and sizes shown in this document shall be Merzon Industries using only Chelsea Building Products extruded profile or approved equal. Although this document establishes performance criteria, there is no intent to imply acceptable use of Merzon Industries windows in a particular application. The specifying individual or entity representing themselves as responsible for the quantity, type and finish of the building components desited for use in a specific dwelling or structure shall establish all requirements for a particular application and determine suitability of the product for its anticipated use.
Vinyl: Frame and sash members shall be extruded from rigid vinyl formulated for outdoor use. PVC compound used shall have been subjected to weathering test data in accordance with ASTM D4216-00.
Hardware/Fasteners: All screws, fastening devices and hardware shall be of aluminum, stainless steel or other non-corrosive metals. Cadmium or zinc-plated steel where used, shall be in accordance with ASTM specification A-165-80 or B-633-78. Locks: Cam-type lock and keeper shall be designed to pull sash rails together to minimize air infiltration. Roller System: Specially designed roller system with brass rollers and durable, rustproof reinforced plastic housing for years of trouble free service. Other Components: All other components shall be of aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel or other non-corrosive metals.
Weather-Stripping: All window units shall be weather-stripped
with a fin seal woven pile or encapsulated foam seal so that there is no vinyl
contact between the main frame and the operating sash. All weather-stripping
shall be installed in specifically extruded profiles and secured to prevent
movement, shrinkage, or loss when moving sash for repair or cleaning.
Glazing/Glass: Glass shall be a minimum SSB float type and will be snap-in
glazed with silicone back bedding to sash and frame. Glass will be 11/16” overall
thickness, sealed, insulated type. Other options include various glazing
thickness, specialty and high performance glass.
Screens (Optional): Frames shall be of roll-formed aluminum with color to match PVC. Screen shall be spring-loaded and held in place in integral screen tracks. Fiberglass screen cloth 18 x 16 mesh, charcoal color, securely held in frame with vinyl spline.
Finish (Colors): 600 Series vinyl windows are available in white and beige.
